Urgent and Immediate Needs
The Grass is Green, Join Our Mowing Teams!
It’s time to make our mowing plans for the year. We have been mowing both campuses for 20 years now and are saving a ton of expenses by not hiring it mowed. We have 2 eXmark zero turn mowers at both campuses as well as push mowers, weed whackers, edgers and backpack blowers. Now we need more people power! Some of our past mowing volunteers have had to move on after several years of service. Each campus has their own mowing crew to tailor the mowing schedule for each campus. Wixom could use some back up volunteers.
At Walled Lake (WL), we have 3 teams so each team mows about once per month if needed or more if needed. We schedule people based on their availability and can usually find a substitute if your plans suddenly change. We need volunteers to mow, edge, weed whack and use backpack blowers. Depending on the number of volunteers each time, it will take 3-4 hours to mow WL including around the main building, the HOME, the Youth House and the soccer field. We need volunteers at WL.
If you have the passion to keep the Lord’s grounds in an attractive condition, we would love your help. Training on the zero turn mowers will be provided if that is your choice.
The Purpose of St. Matthew’s Visitation Ministry: In response to Christ’s love, with the Spirit’s help, according to the Father’s will and for God’s glory, our Homebound/Visitation Ministry will strive to work together to faithfully fulfill our church’s mission of “helping people grow closer to and be more like Jesus,” through our loving care to our homebound/care center members.

Wixom Campus Sunday Morning Worship Support
Nursery: Help supervise young ones during the church service in our nursery room. Our nursery has a speaker that allows you to still hear the service during this time!
Commitment: No more than 1 time a month
Kid’s Praise: Held on Communion Sundays (2nd and 4th weeks), our Kid’s Praise program is a way for children to intentionally learn about the message. This program is for children from age 3 to about 4th grade and is held during the church service. There is no need to come up with your own lesson plan; materials will be provided by Dawn Rupe.
Commitment: No more than 1 time a month (1 time every two months with more volunteers)
Altar Guild: This ministry helps prepare the Lord’s Supper for the congregation on Communion Sundays (2ndand 4th weeks). Volunteers are asked to come early on Sunday morning to prepare the elements and to remove the elements and store properly after service.

Walled Lake Coffee Hour
Dates Needed: May 5, 12 & 19
We are looking for people that have been blessed with the gift of hospitality that are willing to set-up, prepare coffee, pick up donuts/bagels, and clean-up on Sundays for a fellowship time in the Walled Lake Hub between services. We need help with the dates listed.

Every volunteer makes a big difference for VBS! There are so many jobs to choose from! Help with preparation or decorating, work with kids in crews or helping at a station. Go to our VBS page and click on the Sign-up link to see all of the possibilities. We’ll help you find your place to serve that week if you can’t decide!

Greeters welcome people into worship and help with passing out pre-worship material like communication cards. This is an excellent way to meet new people at worship.
Did you used to play an instrument, but haven’t had an opportunity to play for a while? Are you currently taking lessons and feel called to share your musical talents in worship? We are looking for instrumentalists to help enrich our worship times throughout the year, especially near Christmas and Easter. Instrumental experience does not need to be “expert” to volunteer.
Our Altar Guild members are responsible for performing some “behind-the-scenes” tasks to prepare our venues for worship. Whether it is changing banners and altar hangings, refilling oil candles, preparing communion elements, or simply tidying our spaces, this role is vital to our weekly worship. You’ll serve on a small team with others who approach their work with joy and reverence.
Our projectionists are of utmost importance in our worship services. They are focused, detail-oriented people, responsible for communicating lyrics, sermon graphics, and other parts of service to the congregation using our Proclaim software. Knowledge of Proclaim is not required to volunteer; we will teach you! Basic computer skills are required and access to your own personal computer (PC or Mac) is preferred.
Walled Lake Prayer and Praise Technicians are focused, detail-oriented, and instrumental in allowing the message of God’s love to be heard clearly by all who gather to worship. They ensure that the music is well-balanced as the worship team leads the congregation in song. Experience with microphones, cables, and sound boards is very helpful, as is prior music experience, but we are also more than willing to teach you about our system.
Walled Lake Blended Sound/Projection Technicians are instrumental in allowing the message of God’s love to be heard clearly by all who gather to worship. They are also responsible for communicating lyrics, sermon graphics, and other parts of service to the congregation using our Proclaim software. Experience with presentation software, microphones, cables, and sound boards is helpful, but we are also more than willing to teach you about our system.
We are looking for people that have been blessed with the gift of hospitality that are willing to set-up, prepare coffee, pick up donuts/bagels, and clean-up on Sundays for a fellowship time in the Walled Lake Hub between services. There are also occasional light lunches needed prior to the Congregational Assembly and a light supper prior to Lenten worship at Walled Lake.
Walled Lake Children’s Bible Adventure Teacher or Assistant
1-2 times a month on a Sunday morning
We need people who love Jesus and enjoy working with children! Work with our Bible Adventure kids (PS-5th grade) as we learn more about God’s Word on Sundays. You have an opportunity to teach a certain age group or assist the teacher for the day. Lessons and materials are provided.
Teach children a lesson based on the Sermon topic for the day – materials and lesson provided. (More of an extended Children’s message) or assist the teacher with crowd control and help.
The Wixom Altar Guild team prepares communion for worship and disassembles afterwards. Anyone with a servant heart is welcome to serve in this role, and training will be provided.

Do you feel called to share your musical talents in worship? We are looking for instrumentalists and vocalists to help add to our Sunday morning praise team. Instrumental and vocal experience does not need to be “expert” to volunteer. Rehearsals are currently Sunday mornings at 8:30 am.

Wixom Sound Technicians help keep the sound from the praise team balanced and make sure people can hear our Pastor. Experience with sound boards is preferred, but we are also more than willing to teach you about our board.
Feel called to help out with our Children’s Ministry? We are looking for nursery volunteers to help supervise children during our worship time. A background check is required for this volunteer position.

A big part of fellowship at the Wixom Campus is our coffee bar. We are looking for people that have been blessed with the gift of hospitality that are willing to set-up, prepare drinks, and clean-up after.
We want to make our events (Summer Nights, Family Events, Trunk-or-Treat, VBS, etc) a great experience for all! Help is needed with preparation for events, during the events, and clean-up. If there is a specific area you’d like to help with, let us know!

We have classes every day of the week. Depends on which day you choose. Classes run from September to May every year.
Reach out with the love of Jesus by doing life together with the internationals that live in our area. You will be partnered with a veteran volunteer or staff member that mentors and guides you through effective outreach to internationals. You will grow in your faith walk with Jesus as you introduce Him to others.
This team promotes opportunities for individuals, ages 60+, that meet needs in areas such as, but not limited to spiritual and/or personal growth, social/relational, as well as care and support.
