About Us
At our core, life at St. Matthew is about drawing nearer to God, who loves us and calls us to share His love with our neighbors.
Loving Our Neighbors Since 1945
Founded as a mission congregation in 1945 in Walled Lake’s historic Stonecrest, we moved a new building on Nicolet Street, then to our 2040 South Commerce Road location in 1958. In 1957 we founded the St. Matthew Lutheran School to serve children in preschool through 8th grade. We opened our Wixom campus in 2001, along with the Hearts and Hands Child Development Center to provide a loving childcare setting for this growing community.
We are a large, regional church with many opportunities for meaningful group interaction for people at every stage of life. It’s in these groups that we believe people find a deep connection to God and learn how to live according to the example of Jesus. We invite you to add your unique God-created being to our community! Join us for worship and explore other ways to get more deeply involved as you experience God’s love at St. Matthew.
