Who doesn’t like to get a gift? Everybody likes gifts! The idea behind a gift is that it is FREE. But what if you got a big gift, a really BIG, an immensely costly gift. Would you feel somewhat obligated to pay something back?
God the Father gave us a costly gift—his Son Jesus Christ. The price was his death on the cross. How do we pay Him back? We can’t. The price has been paid in full. All God asks is that we accept the FREE gift, and share it with others, because there is more than enough to go around. When Jesus returned to heaven he gave us the authority to pass it on, and then released us from any obligations. He said GO into all the world. That’s why we are going to PAY IT FORWARD this Easter and continue passing on the gift in a unique way as a community in the series to come.
