The Messenger

Greetings to our Guests!

  • It is a privilege to have you join the people of St. Matthew in our time with God this weekend.  If you have questions about this or anything else, please stop by our Welcome Center.  Feel free to check out anything that might interest you in this Messenger or on our website:  www.st-matthew.org

From the Pastors:

  • If you haven’t already done so, please complete the annual “Up, In and Out” Survey.  All members and guests including youth (ages 12 and up) are asked to provide their thoughts online (or by filling out the paper copy this weekend in worship).  This tool is designed to help St. Matthew determine how the ministry is doing in developing vibrant, missional Christ-followers.  Thank you for your willingness to help people grow UP with God; IN community; and OUT with His love. www.st-matthew.org/survey
  • Joann Wiliford’s son Tony Zangara passed away.  A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Nov.15 at 2pm at the Walled Lake campus.
  • It's that time of of year where we are preparing for the Thanksgiving Feast at the St. Matthew Wixom campus. We would love to have you join us. We are in need of donations and volunteers. Volunteer opportunities are available before, during, and after Thanksgiving!  All donations need to be dropped off by 11/18.  Please click on the link and sign up to help us continue the tradition of serving over 300 Thanksgiving meals to our community. Thanks! See more info at www.st-matthew.org/thanksgiving or sign up directly: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050f44afaf2da46-thanksgiving1

St. Matthew is in the process of soliciting names from members to potentially serve as our full-time/called Director of Children’s and Family Ministry.   Names of potential individuals may be submitted to Minister of Youth John Welte at john.welte@st-matthew.org.  The deadline to submit names is November 25, 2018.

Advent by Candlelight, originally scheduled for Dec. 2, has been cancelled. While many ladies have offered to assist with the event, we are left without a Chairperson, causing us to cancel.

New Wixom Bible Study - Do you have challenging questions about God? Have you been asked hard questions with no easy answer? Pastor Rob will be teaching “Tough Questions” beginning November 11th at 10:20 in Gathering Place B at Wixom Campus. The first week, we will be looking at the question “How Does Anyone Know God Exists?” In the following weeks we will look at “What is God Really Like?” “How Can Rational People Believe in Miracles?” “How Can a Person Get to Know God?” Contact rob.nelson@st-matthew.org for more information.

This week at Celebrate Recovery, Justin will be presenting the GIVE lesson as we begin Principle 8 and Step 12 in our recovery journey. What does it mean to give? In James 1:22, it says we are to be "doers of the Word." We are never more like God than when we give – not just money or things but our very selves just as Jesus gave us the gift of Himself. In Principle 8, we give ourselves in healthy, non-codependent ways without the slightest trace of expecting to receive back.

If you are a parent (or soon to be) of a infant child, wouldn't you like to give your child a treasure that lasts for eternity?

November 10, 2018 - 8:00am

We will be doing our annual fall cleanup Saturday, November 10th 8 am-12 noon at the Walled Lake campus. Please come and help cleanup the property of leaves, branches, etc. You can come for a little bit, or the entire time if you are able - feel free to bring friends!  Please bring gloves, rakes, wheelbarrows, and anything else you feel may be useful for a fall cleanup.  If there are kids who need community hours, they can come and help and we will sign off on their forms.

Poinsettias will be ordered for the holiday season and placed in the sanctuary and gym of the Walled Campus, and in the main worship area at the Wixom Campus. If you would like to order a poinsettia, please fill out the information on the order form, include a check (payable to St. Matthew) and place in the offering plate, or bring to the church office.  All orders must be submitted by:  Sunday, November 25th.
