  • Sue Palka has been selected as the 2019 Michigan District Principal of the Year.   She will be presented this award on Sunday, May 19 at the 9:40 and 11 am worship gatherings by Travis Grulke, Superintendent of Schools of the Michigan District of our denomination.  We praise God and thank Sue for her godly and skilled leadership of our school. Please join us for cake in the Hub at the Walled Lake Campus between services around 10:15am.
  • In a special 1pm worship gathering on Sunday, May 19, the following Junior Confirmands will profess their faith and receive their first communion.  May God bless and continue to grow them UP with God, IN relationship with other Christ-followers, and OUT in sharing God’s love with others!

  • “You Asked for It” is the title of our summer sermon series this year.  But we need your help.  What Bible verse has always puzzled you?  Is there an issue that you’d like clarity on from the Bible?  What topic would you like the preachers to address?  Please submit your suggestions to Pastor Paul by the end of May.  Our sermons in July and August will be based on your requests.
  • Members are invited to submit names for consideration for the Wixom Pastor position.  Duties include: primary preacher at the Wixom campus; outreach, missions (excluding International Ministry), Bridge ministry, and volunteerism for all of St. Matthew; leadership of Wixom campus specific staff and ministries, such as worship, pastoral liaison for Hearts & Hands Child Development Center, and Celebrate Recovery; and other normal pastoral responsibilities.  Please submit names and the attached form (also available at Welcome Centers) to the church office at either campus by June 3.   • There will be a door offering on June 2 & 9 to make the June 30 picnic and games free for all.

Altar flowers are being placed this week in the Sanctuary in celebration of Jason and Sarah Urbahn's 7th Wedding Anniversary and "in loving memory of Jason being single!" May God bless your celebration's this week and may He continue to bless you for many more years to come!

The Sanctuary and Gym Altar flowers have been purchased by the Parent-Teacher League in honor of Sue Palka’s distinction as the 2019 Michigan District Principal of the Year. Let’s be “fishers of men”…invite a friend to the St. Matthew church picnic, Sunday, June 30th, immediately following the 11:00am worship service.

We are asking our members to bring a dessert, in a disposable container or a container labeled with your name on it.  All other picnic items will be provided.

This Tuesday night at Celebrate Recovery is a testimony night. We will hear Nate’s story about mental health struggles. At the age of 10, mental health became very real to Nate. Falling into depression, he suffered from suicidal thoughts and even tried to take his own life. After hitting rock bottom, he gave his life to Christ and got involved in Celebrate Recovery.

College Age Student Gathering and Bonfire at the Wixom Campus on Wednesday, May 22 from 9-10 PM at the Wixom Campus. Join us for a bonfire and chance to get caught up and plan for the summer. Hot dogs, s'mores, and beverages will be provided. In case the weather does not cooperate we will meet at the Walled Lake campus in the basement Youth Room.

College Age Summer Mission Trip to Ohio dates are August 11-17. More information and applications are available by contacting John.

All motorcycle riders are invited to join us for a leisurely morning ride ending with lunch. All rides begin at the Walled Lake campus at 9 AM ending with lunch allowing each rider to choose their own route home.

Saturday, June 1 we will head North via Fenton, Holly, Lapeer ending at Firehouse Subs in Waterford.
Saturday, June 8 we are heading South via the back roads to Chick-Fil-A in Toledo.
Saturday, June 29 we are heading to Chelsea for Smokehouse 52 BBQ for lunch.

Spring is finally here and its time to dust off your helmet and motorcycle and join us as we hit the open road.  Our first ride will be Saturday May 11 beginning at 9 AM (first bike out around 9:15) at the Walled Lake Campus.   We will head north for a leisurely hour and half ride ending with lunch at Firehouse Subs in Waterford. 

The Christian Citizenship Committee will be hosting a movie event, with "God Bless the Broken Road" on May 19 starting at 5pm at the Wixom Campus. Pizza and salad will be provided. Actor from the movie, Arthur Cartwright (credits also include Gran Torino), will also speak on being a Christian in Hollywood. The movie tells the story of a young mother, who loses her husband in Afghanistan and struggles emotionally, financially and spiritually to raise their daughter in his absence.

Do you love spending time with and nurturing young children?  St. Matthew - Wixom is currently accepting applications for Infant and Preschool Caregivers at its Hearts & Hands Christian Child Center. Part-time, Monday thru Friday. If interested, please contact Ronda Coe at 248.624.9525 or Ronda.Coe@st-matthew.org.

Bible Adventure is for children ages preschool thru Grade 4. We provide a fun, activity based worship opportunity on their level. Classes at the Walled Lake Campus are held at 9:40 am and 11:00 am in room 304, and for the Wixom Campus class is held at 9:00 am, Drop off is in room Gathering Place A.

Bible Adventure will wrap up May 19th. We will resume Bible Adventure in the Fall on September 8th, 2019. We acknowledge and thank our wonderfully dedicated volunteers who make it possible, week in and week out, to share the love of Jesus with His children at St. Matthew!

Please join us on June 2nd at 10:20AM, at the Wixom campus, for an end of the year celebration for all children and youth Sunday School classes!

Kid's Praise is a great way for children age 3 through First Grade to learn all about Jesus on their level. Kids' Praise is offered at our Wixom campus during the 9:00 am service in the Gathering Place A Room.

Our lovingly staffed Nursery is available on Sunday mornings. At the Walled Lake campus - from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm for children three years old and under. At the Wixom campus - for the 9:00 am worship service.

At the Walled Lake campus-will be available all summer during 8:15am, 9:40am, and 11:00am services. On June 30th, the church picnic, it’s only available at 8:15am service. Thank you Jocelyn Prewett for your leadership as the Walled Lake Nursery Coordinator and Dianne Kirschke for your faithful and loving service to God’s tiniest children entrusted to your care.

A special thank you to Chelsea Pesta, Devin Gafford, Jon Stults, and Carrie Herzog for helping lead our Middle and High School Bible classes this year.

Middle School Bible Class at the Walled Lake campus meets at 9:40 in the Youth House and at the Wixom campus class meets at 10:20. There will be no classes over the Memorial Day Weekend.

Thespian Troupe #4216 of Lutheran Northwest is presenting Disney’s The Little Mermaid! Performances are Friday & Saturday, 5/17-18 at 7PM and Sunday, 5/19 at 2PM. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and senior citizens and may be purchased at the door or reserved in advance by calling the school office at 248-852-6677. A special Cast Meet & Greet for kids ages 3 & up will be held before the Saturday performance only (5/17 at 5:30PM) for $15 per child, including seating.  This production includes a number of grade school students in addition to our high school cast!
