  • This Sunday, June 25, is our annual 11am outdoor worship under the big tent followed by our church picnic with food and games.  In lieu of this event, we will not offer a Sunday 9:40 am worship gathering at our Walled Lake campus or a 10:20 am worship gathering at our Wixom campus.  (We will still offer a Sunday 8:15 am worship gathering at our Walled Lake campus, a 9:00 am worship gathering at our Wixom campus, and a Monday 7pm worship gathering at our Walled Lake campus.
  • Church Picnic: June 25, 2017 - 12:00pm at the Walled Lake Campus. Come join us under the big tent for our annual Church Picnic on June 25, 2017, immediately following the 11:00 AM Walled Lake campus outdoor service.  We are very excited to be entertained by the band while we eat, as well as host Arts and Scraps for some crafty fun for the kids.  Be sure to check out the bounce house or make it through the obstacle course!  Plenty of family fun is available. As in previous years, we need your help in providing food.  Please click the link below to sign up to bring a Side, Salad, or Dessert. Please indicate what you are bringing so we can plan a great event! We could always use help supervising the games and attractions.  If you are 16 or older, with a heart to serve, we have opportunities to serve in 30-minute increments. As always, your presence and participation is what makes this work.  We look forward to seeing you there, as you are a blessing from God to us.
  • Douglas Slavens, from Concordia Seminary St. Louis, has been assigned as St. Matthew’s vicar for 2017-18.  He and wife Liz have five children, Elsie, Henry, Ruby, Taylor, and Lydia.  If anyone has a large home or apartment available for rent, please contact the church office.  He will begin his time with us after Vicar Ahren completes his vicarage in July.  
  • Ahren’s farewell sermon will be July 23/24.  A farewell reception will be held in the Hub following all WL worship services.  His last day in the office will be July 24.  Member are invited to give him “thank you” cards and gifts.”  A gift card box will be available at his farewell reception or may be dropped off at the church office.
  • Doug’s first day will be July 24.  He will be introduced at all worship the weekend of July 30, being installed at the 11am service.  His first sermon will be in all venues the weekend of Aug.20.  Members are invited to provide him gift cards as a special welcome.  They may be dropped off at the church office.

What a wonderful week, with hundreds of children and volunteers filling our Walled Lake campus!

This week at Celebrate Recovery we will hear Heather’s testimony about being abused at a young age and living with secrets and shame. She learned to cope with her pain through self-injury and addiction. The love, acceptance and healing Heather sought after was found through a relationship with Jesus, who then lead her to Celebrate Recovery. Please join us to hear God’s amazing work in her. Jesus looked at them and said, “with man this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible”. Matthew 19:26

The Christian Citizenship Committee is sponsoring a family movie night at Wixom on Friday, July 28th at 7PM. According to the movie’s website, “The Resurrection of Gavin Stone is an inspirational comedy rated PG about faith and forgiveness. Gavin Stone, a washed-up former child star is forced to do community service at a local mega- church and pretends to be a Christian so he can land the part of Jesus in their annual Passion Play only to discover that the most important role of his life is far from Hollywood.” Popcorn and lemonade will be provided.

Mark your calendars to join us for the upcoming 500th Anniversary Reformation Worship Service!  Sunday, October 15, 2017, at the Breslin Center at Michigan State University. Concourse Display opens at 2:00 pm, Pre-Service Concert begins at 4:00 pm, and the Celebration Worship is at 5:00 pm.  This is a FREE event, open to everyone who would like to attend.  However, you still need to reserve your seat!  Please visit the website at:

The Women’s Senior Bible Study will continue throughout the summer. We will meet Sunday's at 11 AM in room 303 (with the exception of June 25th and July 2nd), and will be using the "WOMEN OF FAITH" study series. Our first study is “A TIME FOR EVERYTHING - Discovering the Beautiful Rhythms of Life”. Each book is a 12 week study, and the book will be available in class for a $8.00 donation. Summer months are busy, but when you’re in town we hope you will check out this new group. This is a great way to connect with other singles or widows within St. Matthew.

Please remember: We will be showing a family movie outside under the big tent on Friday night. Pack a picnic, bring a blanket, drinks and some friends. Join us for the fun! Come join us around 7:00 pm, movie will begin at dusk. We will be watching either Moana or Meet the Robinson's. Children are voting and we will announce the movie later this week.

Bible Adventure has wrapped up for the year and will not be available during the summer. We will resume Bible Adventure in the Fall on September 10, 2017.

There will be no Kid's Praise this Sunday, June 25th due to the church wide service and picnic being held at the Walled Lake Campus starting at 11:00 am.

This Sunday, June 25th, there is NO Nursery available at the Walled Lake Campus, and only during the 9:00am service at the Wixom Campus.

College-Age Summer Bible Class meets Thursday Nights at 9 PM at the Walled Lake campus in the basement Youth Room. We will be using the video series “Struggles” by Craig Groeschel.

Confirmation Parent Information for students in grade seven or higher who have not started the confirmation process is available by contacting John Welte.

Grades 7-8 Sunday Bible Classes at the Walled Lake campus has ended for the summer, and will start again in the fall.

High School Sunday Morning Bible Class at the Walled Lake campus will not meet again until July 1st.

High School Sunday Night Gathering meets at the Walled Lake campus from 7-8:30 PM.

Middle School Summer Wild Wednesday will begin on Wednesday June 28 with Water Wars. Bring a squirt gun than can be filled from a pool and join us on the front lawn of the HOME beginning at 7 PM. Come prepare to get soaked.

Would you like to go on a journey to Israel and haven’t made plans yet?  Pastor Frank Graves is planning on taking a 10 day pilgrimage to Israel in 2017 (Nov. 28 – Dec. 7).  He has journeyed there 7 times prior.  Cost is $3997 (from Detroit).   The cost includes entrance into all sacred sites, lodging, air and ground transportation, full breakfast and dinner (lunch is at your expense), and all tips. He will hold an Informational meeting at the Walled Lake campus on Wednesday, July 12, at 10:00 am.

Lutheran Special Education Ministries is seeking teachers to fill positions at St. Paul Lutheran School in Ann Arbor and Shepherd of the Lakes in Brighton.  Candidates should have Special Education Certification, or be actively working toward the certification.  We will also consider candidates who have special education experience and those with Elementary Certification who have a desire to work with students who have learning needs.
