- An Open Forum will be held at 12:30 pm on Sunday, April 30, at the Walled Lake campus to present and get input on the proposed budget. Then, the Annual Congregational Assembly (Voters meeting) will be held at 12:30 pm on Sunday, May 7, at the Walled Lake campus. Agenda items include: setting the ballot for elections and budget, the first reading of an Elder proposed change to the Constitution regarding the word “excommunication,” a proposed change to the Foundation bylaws, a proposed changes to the Core Values, and items from the floor. Child care will be provided and a light lunch will be available prior to the assembly.
- Douglas Slavens, from Concordia Seminary St. Louis, has been assigned as St. Matthew’s vicar for 2017-18. He and wife Liz have five children, Elsie, Henry, Ruby, Taylor, and Lydia. If anyone has a large home or apartment available for rent, please contact the church office. He will begin his time with us after Vicar Ahren completes his vicarage in July. On a side note, Vicar Doug is from Pastor Dion’s church.

God's blessings on this day of new beginnings with the Baptism of Henry Frank Olejnicizak (son of Grace Kosky & Chad Olejniczak) on Monday, May 1, 2017 in a Baptism during the Monday night service @ 7:00 pm at the Walled Lake Campus. May God smile upon Henry Frank and may He surround him always with His wisdom and love.
This week at Celebrate Recovery, we will hear a testimony from Brad and Renee, the Celebrate Recovery National Director East and the CR National Training Coach. They will share how alcohol and drug addiction nearly ruined their lives. Through Jesus Christ and Celebrate Recovery their lives and marriage have been restored and they've been given a divine purpose for life. This is an incredible story of hope and restoration that you won't want to miss!
A Women's Celebrate Recovery Step Study is available at St.Matthew. The step study is an in-depth look at the 25 Lessons of Celebrate Recovery that cover the 12 steps and 8 principles of recovery based on the words and power of Jesus.People that have been through Step Studies will tell you that this is where the healing and love of Jesus really came through and their lives were changed for the better through the process. The study takes place within a small, confidential, safe group and is for any person that struggles with any hurt, habit or hang up.
College-Age Summer Mission Trip to the Caldwell, Ohio will be the week of July 30-August 5. Applications are available by contacting John Welte. Space is available for at least 6 before we will need additional drivers. Applications are due June 1.
This year we are gearing up to help children discover that they are "Created by God - Built for a Purpose". Perhaps God has built YOU to share His love with children as a Crew Leader? Our Crew Leaders make it possible for us to welcome between 500-600 children during VBS week June 19-23. We also have other opportunities for you to fulfill God's purpose for your life. We'll get you trained, support you through the process, and give you everything you need to be successful.
VBS will be here June 19th - 23rd! While working on the “nuts and bolts” of VBS planning, we discovered WE NEED: Nuts and bolts, tin cans, and even some pool noodles to keep us afloat through VBS week! The Bridge Ministry is looking for a volunteer to help with a website project (oaklandcountyresources.org). The ideal volunteer will have experience with WordPress, basic HTML, SEO, and Google. Responsibilities would include keeping the site up-to-date, finding new resources to add, and managing community listings. In conjunction with the Do Something sermon series, the Missions Ministry is hosting an adults only Mission Gala on June 3, 2017 at Lyon Oaks Banquet Center. Bible Adventure is for children ages preschool thru Grade 4. We provide a fun, activity based worship opportunity on their level. Classes at the Walled Lake Campus are held at 9:40 am and 11:00 am in room 304, and for the Wixom Campus class is held at 10:20 am, Drop off is in the Kid's Praise Room. The Bible Adventure and St. Matthew Lutheran School children will be singing for Mother's Day. Details will be provided soon.

Grade 5-8 Sunday Bible Class at the Walled Lake campus classes meet at 9:40. Grades 5-6 in room 301 and grades 7-8 in the Youth House. At the Wixom campus class meets at 10:20 for grades 5-8 in the Explorer room.
High School Summer Mission Trip to Ohio will be July 9-15, 2017. Applications are available from the Youth Bulletin Board and due by April 30. The mission team will be selected in May based off the application questions. The Ohio Mission Trip is an incredible way to share the love of Christ, grown in your own personal faith, get extremely close with fellow students, and have an awesome time. Adults interested in chaperoning should contact John Welte.
High School Sunday Morning Bible Class will not meet due to the Junior Senior Retreat taking place at Camp Wolverine.
High School Sunday Night Gathering will have an old fashioned game night in the basement this week due to Peter Pan Jr. rehearsal in the gym. We will be placing a variety of games followed by ice Cream Sundaes. Weather permitting we might even go outside for games.
Middle and High School Paintball on Saturday, May 6 from 10 AM until Noon at the Wixom campus. Cost to play is $5. Parents and friends are welcome to join the fun. Everyone must have turned in a current Liability release form to play. Email or text John to sign up to play. We need a minimum 8 players. Lunch at Taco Bell (you pay) for those interested afterward.
Middle School Wild Wednesday will not meet on May 3 due to the gym being used to prepare for the school musical Peter Pan Jr. being presented May 5 and 6. MS Wild Wednesday will return on May 10.

Have you ever been interesting in participating in a mission trip overseas? St. Matthew is once again assembling a mission team with MOST Ministries to visit India October 12-24, 2017, and there are five spaces still open. We must have at least 3 more people attending to make this trip happen. Please prayerfully consider signing up! MOST Ministries coordinates the travel arrangements for this trip, which will be distributing eyeglasses. St. Matthew has frequently participated in and led eyeglass trips to India. During the trip, Pastor Daniel will be having a Baptism service.
This year on May 4th, instead of greeting people, "May the forth (force) be with you!" how about greeting them with "May the Lord be with you!" May 4th is the National Day of Prayer, and we'll be hosting it at the Wixom campus from 9:00AM till 9:00PM. Stop by any time to pray around the bonfire, walk and meditate on the prayer trail, nail prayers to the prayer cross or prayer wall, and even grab a bit of lunch (provided). We will lift up ourselves, our community, our church, our nation, and our world.
