Help a Child Experience Christmas!

St. Matthew is a part of three great groups that helps those less fortunate at Christmas. Please consider getting involved with one of these groups and help bring the love of Jesus to some incredible children!

  • Holiday Family Assistance Program (HFA):  If you or your small group has "adopted a family" at St. Matthew in the past, this year the program has changed.  HFA still provides Christmas to any child whose family needs the help.  They also provide coats, boots, and a food baskets if needed. What has changed is how the families are assigned.  Rather than us assigning you a family this year, we are asking that you pick the family or family items of your choice off the Giving Tree.  The Giving Tree will be up on Thursday, November 28 at theWalled Lake campus and  Sunday, December 1 at the Wixom campus.  HFA will have Red mitten ornaments on both trees with detail as to what the specific needs are for each child. Please return the tag with the (unwrapped) gift no later than Monday, December 16.  Click here to nominate a family for assistance.
  • Hospitality House Santa Shop:  Hospitatlity House Food Pantry will host their Santa Shop at our Walled Lake campus on Saturday, December 7.  This event allows all of the food pantry clients to come select Christmas gifts for their children.  For many of these families, coming to the Santa Shop may be the first time they have ever entered a church; some are atheist, some are Muslim and Jewish.  Regardless of where they come from, they are all children of our loving God and we want to show His incredible love for them!  If you want to volunteer to help with this incredible event please sign up here.
  • Lutheran Child and Family Services (LCFSA):  Lutheran Child and Family Services has over 100 years of service to Lutheran Foster families and does a fantastic job providing Christmas to over 500 foster families in the South East Michigan area.  They will be putting (white) gift tags on our Giving Tree.  If you select a white tag, please keep gifts to a $25 limit and return the tag with the (unwrapped) gift (in a gift bag please) no later than Monday, December 9.
