If Only You Had... March 29

Jesus proved he had power to walk on water, command storms to be still, and multiply bread to feed thousands.   Jesus healed the blind, lame, deaf and leprous. No miracle was out of Jesus grasp if only he could make it in time.

Lazarus was ailing fast. Jesus got the message that if he hurried Lazarus could be healed. This sickness that Lazarus had… it was in Jesus menu list of miracles. The only problem was that Jesus just had to hurry. Jesus didn’t hurry.

Don’t you hate it when things fall apart? I do. I have plans, dreams, expectations and ideals. I think God will bless Rob’s itinerary of events. God will agree with this course of action. God wants Rob’s life to be “Oh, so happy!” If it makes sense to Rob, it should make sense to God and he will bless it all with his approval.

Nothing went according to plan for Mary and Martha. They sent for Jesus to “come quick.” Jesus took his time, and Lazarus died.   They cried, “if only you had been here.” John 11:21, John 11:32

I’ve asked the same type of questions. God you have ALL power. “If only you could heal my grandfather…” “If only you could take this suffering…” “If only…”

Sometimes God doesn't.

Sometimes he doesn’t do what we ask to show a greater power. Martha knew “If only” Jesus had been there, he could have healed Lazarus. She knew “if only” I trust and wait, I will see Lazarus in the resurrection of the dead on the last day John 11:24

But she never considered in her plan or in her wildest dreams, Jesus could raise the dead NOW –four days after Lazarus had died.

Are you at a point in life asking God, “If only…” Are you doubting God’s power? Are you doubting God’s care for you? Doubt is okay.   Start by doubting your plans, because God’s plans are always better.

Even Jesus asked "if only."  He said “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Luke 22:42  Sometimes God doesn't.  The greater power was shown when Jesus himself--God in the flesh died.  BUT he rose to show he had a be

If you feel that your life is missing something, a void or hitting a wall look to Jesus. If he can breathe life into the dead, he can breathe new life into your plans again, too.

Thank you Jesus.
