Spiritual Desert

Have you ever been dry spiritually?  Have you ever experienced a spiritual desert, a season in which your Bible reading seems empty, prayers hallow, and worship life-less?  Me too.  That seems to be a dangerous time, when temptations and spiritual assaults can be particularly effective against us.

Even in those times, I don't think that God has turned off the faucet of His care and concern for us.  It may be a time to rachet up our pleas for God.  It may be a time to walk by faith, not relying on the "sight" of feelings or emotions.  It may be a time to intensify our "God-time" or go on a spiritual retreat.  It may be a time to remind ourselves of God's faithfulness or review Biblical examples of God working behind the scenes in someone's life (e.g. Joseph in Egypt).  But God doesn't turn off the faucet of His care and concern for us-- even in the desert.

Is it raining yet?
