Feb 23 Private God-Time

With a very active high school senior as the last child at home, my wife and I have been spending more time together...alone.  I must say that I am enjoying it.  This private time alone is taking our marriage to a whole new level.

Similarly, in today's reading Jesus is shown treasuring his private time alone with the Father.  In Matthew 14:13, Jesus "withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place."  In Matthew 14:23, Jesus "went up on a mountainside by himself to pray."

By listening/reading through the Gospels, I am learning in fresh ways the sweetness of private time alone with God.  God is using this to take me to a whole new level with Him.  I guess He is growing me closer to Him.

How about you?

Pastor Paul,  I have been

Pastor Paul,  I have been getting your tweets on Twitter and am always glad to read your posts.  Wes and I can so relate to your post today.  As empty nesters we have so much more quality time together and more importantly more time to spend in reading the Bible and reflecting on what we read together.

Thanks for posting and know that you are in our prayers.

Gladys

Pastor Paul-

Super-wife who is sitting on the couch next to me with her MacBook in her lap just pointed out your post.  We are certified empty-nesters and we have found this chapter of our life very enjoyable.  I appreciate your comparison to time alone with Jesus.

As I enter deeper into the age of being a senior citizen, I appreciate more the truth of the importance of being alone with Jesus.  It's taken me awhile to unclog the spiritual arteries leading to my heart, but I get it.  He is the meaning of this life which is preparation for the next life, the real one.  Thanks for the post.

By the way, I invite you to check out this blog post from Rich Bearup who's going to Haiti next week with Kate for a work trip on an orphanage.  He does a great job of sharing his heart about the project and what it means to him.  The address:  http://thehaitianchronicles.posterous.com/12136481

Our best to you and your family-
