I love snow days. Do you? It is a wonderful thing to have an unexpected break from the normal routine. It is a chance to relax a little. And often I get to do things that I've wanted to do for a while; or get caught up on something.
But I also notice that a snow day...being out of the normal routine...can be good or bad spiritually. Sometimes my "God time" gets expanded by being less rushed to head off for the days tasks. Other times my "God time" gets shorted because I am out of my routine.
How does a snow day affect you spiritually?

Honestly?! I have come to dread the 'snow days'. At least that's always my initial reaction to news of an upcoming storm. Reason being is that as I get older the less ambitious I am to go out and shovel the stuff!!
However, once said task is complete and I look around me, I feel a sense of accomplishment and then begin to appreciate the fact that I have a sidewalk and driveway to shovel! Further reflection leads me toward gratitude for our beautiful home and how truly blessed I am and have been.

It can be a struggle sometimes to remember to look for the silver lining; it requires effort to overcome my shortcomings of laziness and procrastination. Positive thinking does not always come naturally to us. As I've been known to say - 'I've checked the library and have yet to find a book on the power of negative thinking'.
As I pray daily for the Lord to remove my shortcomings and ask for knowledge of His will for me and the power to carry it out, I find myself stepping toward a positive outlook for the day. However, a bit of honesty tells me I frequently take my will back. I just pray for God's patience for me in my spiritual growth.
