Biography

Storefront windows let you peek into a shop to see what is inside. Well, if you’re interested, let me give you a peek into what’s inside me. What you’ll see is that Jesus is my greatest treasure. What He has done for me is way more than I’ll ever deserve; and way more than I can ever repay. So, I value Jesus more than anything. He’s so good that I long to be a “man after God’s own heart.” Because of that, I also desire to be a “God-run” person who increasingly lives the better, adventure-filled life shared in His book, the Bible. Finally, my life prayer is that would use me however He desires so that as many people as possible might receive this treasure of Jesus. That’s what’s inside me. On the outside, there a husband of 30+ years, a father of five, a sports fan,…and a guy who gets to do what he loves: be a pastor (and they even pay me for it ☺).

Biography

I joined the St. Matthew community in the summer of 2008.  I have lived all over the U.S. and across the ocean. I was a military brat, pastor's kid and missionary kid.  All these opportunities have given me a heart for ministry cross-culturally and a desire to reach those who question God's love for them. I enjoy spending time with my family. I've been blessed to be married to Nicki for 15 years and I have three growing boys.  Our kids lead us in a further appreciation for the spiritual discipline of prayer…often. I am always amazed at the uniqueness God has given me in my own family and I am astounded at the wisdom of God as he has created his diverse church. Each of us brings our own unique experiences and gifts to the mix. I pray that you can see how God makes you perfected in Christ and important to others. And I hope if you should choose to visit us that St. Matthew may be a church family for you!

Biography

As the newest addition to St. Matthew's staff, having just been ordained as your pastor in July of 2009, let me say how much joy it brings me to be a part of this family!  I consider myself extremely blessed to have been called to a church family where so many people are burning with passion for our Savior Jesus Christ, and are hungry to grow as His disciples!  My own life path, by which I came to be in this privileged position, has been a pretty unpredictable journey!  Although I'm originally from California and Missouri, I spent the majority of 2000 - 2005 living in various parts of Asia, mostly teaching and doing other kinds of missionary work.  It was during these very formative years of my life that I started to hear God calling me to dedicate myself to His work in a new way.  I went to Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in 2005 to become a pastor, and it was during that time that God blessed me with my amazing wife Rachel, a deaconess by trade!  And now, here we are... taking this new step in God's journey that He has planned for us!  And my prayer is this: that God would use me as His tool to show the world - starting with you, the members of this family - that life only becomes truly electrifying when we surrender it to Jesus!  Anything less is settling for second-best!  Only when our Lord Jesus Christ is at the center of all that we do does the purpose of our lives become clear - and all of life's other worries just fade into the background...
